Superfly is a fine action slash crime film, except that the endless ramblings unnecessarily prolong the film. It also slows down the pace of the film and certainly does not benefit the film as a whole.

Lame story about a drug kingpin with a hilarious haircut [Trevor Jackson] who, with his best friend [Jason Mitchell], tries to make the classic final move and leave crime. His mentor [Michael Kenneth Williams] proves unwilling to help him, as a bloodbath threatens to ensue. Jackson is hopeless and this reinterpretation of the eponymous 1972 blaxploitation classic is populated by poorly acted caricatures and is rife with sexism and narcissism. The pseudonym that Montero Lamal Hall AKA Lil Nas X uses as director says it all. Waste of time.
