"Blood demands blood"
The film follows Victor (Colin Farrell), who is the right-hand man to a crime boss in New York. He seeks revenge for the death of a family member, but is seduced and blackmailed by Beatrice (Noomi Rapace) who is a crime victim and seeking retribution. Their intense chemistry eventually leads to a violent climax.

Friendly. Dead Man Down has a somewhat odd combination of drama, hard-hitting action and melancholy humor, but it works for the most part. Colin Farrell is always good at these kinds of roles and the same goes for Rapace. It's a different set, but it works. The script is the standard revenge/underworld story, but director Oplev does have a clear vision for what it should look like. Atmospheric, dark and action-packed, as I like to see these kinds of films.

Stereotype crime film with a lot of violence from time to time. There is always room in these kinds of films for a secondary, romantic storyline, which is usually overshadowed by the endless violence that surrounds it. That is also the case here. So there is little new under the sun. I am more used to director Niels Arden Oplev.
