Frankenstein Created Woman plot
"Now Frankenstein has created a beautiful woman with the soul of the Devil!"
This time Dr. Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) manages to transfer the soul of an innocently executed man into the reconstructed body of his disabled mistress (Susan Denberg). The latter committed suicide after her lover came into contact with the guillotine. Christina emerges as a stunning young woman bent on revenge and slaughtering her lover's killers one by one.

I have to honestly admit that I personally care more for Dracula than for Frankenstein. That said, I do think Cushing portrays Professor Frankenstein in an excellent way. However, this story doesn't really have much horror to offer. The idea of a man's spirit returning to a woman's body isn't exactly terrifying. It is interesting, though, and the female beauty manages to captivate until the end.
As is to be expected from Hammer, the sets and costumes were excellent again. Furthermore, I quite appreciated the atmospheric guillotine shots.
Certainly not a bad Hammer horror.

Quite a nice film in which an 'ugly duckling' can turn into a 'swan' due to circumstances. Fits nicely in the long line of Frankenstein films. A 7.

Hammer delivers an entertaining story here once again, even though it deviates quite a bit from the classic Frankenstein tale and Frankenstein's monster is actually absent.
Cushing is once again excellently cast as Dr. Frankenstein here; otherwise, it is an entertaining revenge story with Frankenstein elements incorporated in a somewhat strange but still nice way.
