"Back in time."
In Men in Black III, Agents J and K go back in time. In his fifteen years with the Men in Black, J has seen a lot of inexplicable things, but nothing and no one knocks him as dumb as his gruff, reticent partner. When K's life and the fate of the planet are at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to set things right. J discovers that the universe harbors secrets K never told him - secrets that will reveal themselves as he and young Agent K try to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humanity.

Back to the future
He will certainly not stay with me, but the time travel concept is just a very nice storyline that you can actually use in all directions. That's why I still find this film quite successful and entertaining. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones did their thing and Josh Brolin was a very nice addition as young Agent K.

Just like the previous two parts, Men in Black 3 is an entertaining nonsense film, and maybe just a bit stronger than part II, but I can't call this a really good film. The story is far too diminutive for that, there are far too few memorable action moments, and the creativity of the aliens and the designs seems to have run out a bit. This film also revolves around time rising, something that even with better writers at the helm remains a difficult subject, and therefore fails a bit here. Good points are not completely absent, however; the effects have clearly taken a huge leap from the first two films, and the cast continues to be fun. Tommy Lee Jones this time in a glorified supporting role, but Will Smith continues to enjoy the role visibly and is assisted by a fine Brolin, who plays the younger version of K in a great way. The best choice they could make seems to me, because in his few scenes Jones seems really too old and worn out for a role like this. 2.5*.

More of the same.
And I don't think this series is really strong right now. This third part is also a good fifteen minutes longer than its predecessors and that is really unnecessary. The fill is some corny family drama that I can't imagine anyone was waiting for. On the other hand, it is not the first time that time travel scripts have been filled with this kind of nonsense. All a bit easy.
Few more surprises. Tommy Lee Jones is half replaced by Josh Brolin. That's not exactly my favorite actor but he is a great cast as the younger version of K. In terms of voice and intonation there is almost no difference. Will Smith is otherwise just Smith - there is usually no surprise in that. The latter also applies to the mediocre CGI and usually ugly monster designs.
