"Back in black."
Four years have passed since the agents managed to avert a major disaster and Kay has since embarked on a simple civilian life. Jay, who still works for the government agency Men In Black, discovers that the Kylothian monster Serleena, disguised as a lingerie model, has hatched an evil plan. In a race against time, Jay must get Kay back to his old orbit, even though he doesn't remember anything, in order to prevent the destruction of Earth together.

For the most part Men in Black II is an entertaining film that, although it seeks and sometimes crosses the line between successful and infantile humor, can certainly pass through a lot of creative inventions and a nice pulp atmosphere. It's a movie that doesn't really bother me, but of course it's not good either. Especially towards the end it gets very ridiculous, and the CGI effects really can't be done. The practical dolls and the like have a certain funny charm, but everything that is conjured up from the computer is disgusting, and gives the whole thing a heavy B-movie vibe. Fortunately, Will Smith and to a slightly lesser extent Tommy Lee Jones (who doesn't seem too excited about it) continue to enjoy their roles as the MIB agents. Smith in particular is quite funny and energetic. 2.5* for this second part.

Well.
Actually, I saw this movie a while ago. Apparently I forgot to type a meninkje. That is not in my favor, because much has not really stuck. At the same time, that says something about this franchise, which can at most be seen as a quick snack. This second part is not going to be good at all. I don't really like the humor and I don't see the charm of ugly special effects and ditto designed aliens either. In the meantime I've seen the whole series and I'm especially happy about that because I was able to check it off again.
