Botan-dôrô plot

Hagiwara Shinzaburo flees an arranged marriage with his brother's widow and lives a quiet life far from his family as a teacher. At the 'Bon Odori', the summer festival of the dead, he meets a beautiful woman and does not recognize in her the ghost that she is. Every interaction with her delights as well as weakens him. He recognizes a ghost in her companion and he becomes frightened. He turns to the priest Kiku for an exorcism.
