A particularly mediocre Tarzan film. Those old films had something, and this one has nothing at all. The story barely adds anything to the Tarzan experience. Miles O'Keeffe is Tarzan but looks more like Rambo or the Hulk, but not green. 1.0.

My first film review, and it's not one of my favorites. But I watched it today on the train ride, so it's still fresh in my mind. Well, there's almost no story in this film, so I won't comment on that. Let me just say I rewatched it mainly out of nostalgia. It's the only Tarzan film I've ever seen, and it'll probably stay with this one. Not that I want to judge other Tarzan films by this one, but the Tarzan story never really captivated me. I've seen parts of George of the Jungle, but I felt it was too silly. In that respect, this one wasn't so bad. I thought the nature shots were beautiful; the animals felt real. And yes, Bo Derek was also a good one. Nudity was much less of a problem back then than it is now. But calling this an erotic film seems a bit far-fetched.

I saw this captivating, musical Tarzan version in the cinema as a young teenager in 1982, and I wasn't bored for a second.

Miles O'Keefe and everyone else is perfectly cast for the film, and their acting is convincing.

Bo Derek is also unforgettable and not only for her exotic beauty, but also her acting performance was perfect in this movie.

So I don't understand the really bad and unnecessary reviews, because this is my favorite Tarzan movie.

I have seen many, of course also with the most famous Tarzan actor Johnny Weismuller, but this Tarzan the Apeman from 1981 still appeals to me the most in terms of settings, tension build-up, story, music score and cast.
