During the South Dakota gold rush in 1876, Deadwood turns out to be the last town where much gold is found. Bob Holliday is the owner of a saloon and the most feared man in town. He sends his brother Jim to Saint Louis to pick up his young fiancée Anne Grayson. After a search, he finds her and brings her along on a steamship. Along the way, they fall in love.
