Romero and his undead.

A very strange start to this movie. A voiceover begins by saying that our main characters are not afraid of zombies at all. They are stupid, slow and easy to finish. That certainly sets the standard for a film that refuses to be exciting. How can it be with such moronic "adversaries".

Doesn't take away from the fact that a lot of people manage to die throughout the film. The soldiers from Diary of the Dead are mixed with an island squabble between two clans. One wants to kill zombies, the other wants to keep them alive. For some reason, clan 2 wins and the leader of the first clan has to fuck off. No idea who came up with this script but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a zombie itself.

Acting is mediocre, the only one who is nice is Kenneth Welsh. In terms of horror, it is all very limited, the plot is very poor and the setting is not much. Fortunately, there is a bit of humor in it and the pace is not too bad. But Romero better retire if this is all he can do.

1.5*

Still disappointing. The story has stood still since Land, so this adds little. From Night to Land the zombies evolved and there were fewer and fewer survivors. Now with parts 5 and 6 we haven't made much progress, so the necessity escapes me a bit, although this part is partly about picking up the habits that the zombies had as living. This has already been discussed in other parts, and it is not very clear here. Other than that, the acting, the story and the dialogues are not that easy. Now the previous parts did not excel in great acting, but here it is just like in part 5 really below par. If the story isn't much more than a feud… Why would Romero want to add this story to the series?

However, there are several nice kills, which Romero seems to be more and more about. Anyway, it looks easy again, including through a reasonable speed and some nice scenes. These are the moments in which you recognize Romero's talent, that he does throw something up for grabs. Therefore 2.5 stars.

Survival of the dead

Not a high flyer. At least, not by Romero's standards.

The story is quite basic. A plague breaks out and for the rest you can actually fill in how the film will go. So not really original in that regard. If you already have such a basic story. So try to look good visually. In survival of the dead, that was also very disappointing. It all looks very cheap. (is also true given the budget) but I have seen that cheap can also be good. Unfortunately not in this movie.

The acting isn't exactly top notch either. The exaggerated old man bothered me painlessly and the other types in the film, who by the way don't add anything to the film (like the young man) were not high flyers either.

So the movie really disappointed me. I don't recommend him if you've seen Romero's other good projects because then you'll come home from the cold Fair. That's why 2 * for this mediocre film
