Expected.

Films like The Mighty Ducks have apparently managed to hook an audience after all. Should this movie be released today, I would never have expected it to have two more sequels and two spin-off series. Still, Weisman manages to make it one. Don't ask me how. However, the level remains the same.

It's nice that the film has already done the origins and introductions in the previous film. It immediately gives this film more space to focus on the sport, and this is what happens. More competitions, more sports, but almost the same recipe. Where in the previous film it may have been the team that caused the conflicts, this time it is Estevez himself who seems to forget things.

But Estevez's character then acts so stupidly that I wonder if the connection between the trainer and the team members is not just some kind of propaganda. I'm still scratching my head about how this film can get this far. Might be useful for life lessons, but the chronology doesn't seem right. Certainly not in such a short period of time.

Other than that, it's all nice and predictable and easy, but very entertaining. This is mainly due to the fact that the hockey games are never really boring. They are all well-known recipes that are reused for this film, but Weisman manages to capture them quickly enough. Not that the matches are actually exciting, but I can imagine that the children will be happy with this for a while.

I would actually say that this film is a step in the right direction for the series. The audience apparently doesn't agree with that, but I'd rather see sports than the backstory of the figures in it. Especially if those dolls act pretty stupid. That's mainly what keeps me from giving the film a narrow pass. Well, as long as the kids like it. However?
