I didn't really think it was a retarded sibling, more like the child of Alien and the Abomination. Anyway, this is fantastic pulp. While I don't like the sci-fi aesthetic, the film holds up well thanks to its delightful no-bullshit approach where anything goes. Beautifully voluptuous women, lots of gore and slime, and of course, lots of lights and buttons that do nothing but seem interesting. Oh, what a great soundtrack, by the way

Entertaining pulp. The beginning is indeed quite reminiscent of Star Wars, with the space battle and overly bright CGI laser beams that seemed to turn the living room into a carnival ride. Fortunately, it doesn't take too long for the alien to be introduced, and lo and behold, it doesn't look bad at all.

Holzman certainly knows how to make a decent alien movie. And that's quite simple: make a good alien. But it's also important to throw in a healthy dose of gore. The alien is indeed the Xenomorph's ugly brother, but it's made with conviction. A good suit or robot is still better than bad CGI. But the makeup was also simply very good, with the decomposing corpse and a few splatter scenes.

And then nothing else matters anymore. But secretly it does. The main ingredient is a success, but the scenes where the monster was missing were actually a bit dull. Luckily, there are still two beautiful women in it who are more than happy to show off their bodies. The acting was borderline, although Dawn became annoying at one point. Her script must have been something like: act boring for the first half hour, wander around aimlessly naked for fifteen minutes, and then scream yourself hoarse for the last half hour, so you'll decide to turn the volume down a bit.

The set design wasn't bad either, though the outdoor scene was unnecessary. The soundtrack was also okay, and I'd never even seen the use of cancer to defeat the alien before. A plus for originality.

A splattered version of Alien, you could call it. This trashy B-movie comes off a bit more sleazy with a lot of slimy effects, and the two actresses strip naked a few times, for god knows why. Well, I won't complain about that, because they were definitely worth seeing. Not that it makes the film any better. Quite the opposite. The first half was okay, with the familiar cheesy elements like bleeping synthesizers and lots of flashy colors, but after that, it becomes a mess. All the scenes with the creature are a failure, but when it comes to the makeup effects, they were reasonably successful.

It's not really good of course, but as a cheap pulp alien rip off it's done pretty well.

In these films it is mainly the sets and gore effects that have to carry the load and this film does that very well.

The rest is a lot less, the soundtrack is cheap and weak, and the acting isn't really good either.

Forbidden World was produced by New World Pictures, the production company of Roger Corman, the Pope of Pop Cinema. And that's pretty much it: Forbidden World is trash. Set on a distant planet, the film centers on the hunt for a monster, all within a cheap set with cheap special effects. And it lasts 77 minutes.

You could consider the film a bad clone of Alien. It's not exciting at all. A slimy monster with no real threat. The sound design is painful to the ears. Actors who can't act. The female crew consists of busty models who occasionally undergo spa treatments or otherwise relax and flutter around the screen naked, while a deadly monster prowls around. And of course, there's the old-fashioned hero who always pops in at just the right moment to rescue the women from the monster's clutches or to assist them in some other way.

Forbidden Worlds is a typical Corman production. Sleazy and trashy. And certainly not a film to be taken seriously. For example, an operation takes place without anesthesia, during which a deep incision is made in the patient's abdomen to remove a gigantic tumor. "Don't worry, I won't pass out" (or something to that effect), the patient says convincingly. And damn, he actually stays awake. Hilarious scenes like this keep you going.

Forbidden World then.

Scream Factory's extended Director's Cut remastered in 4K with Dolby Vision.

From the stable of Roger Corman, who always manages to create something despite a low budget.

The title that appeared here was "Mutant." The film clearly copied Alien, but the costumes also looked like they'd been ripped straight from the shelves of Star Wars and Battlestar Galatica. The sets looked quite beautiful, with all sorts of lights and enormous buttons to open doors. The 80s synthesizer soundtrack sounded great, and there was plenty of gore to admire. During the film, you were mainly distracted by two horny sluts from the crew who were all too eager to get down. It's a shame that the young brunette seemed to get stuck in a constant scream towards the end. The creators' ultimate deception of stopping the creature is brilliant. At only 82 minutes, it's a pleasant watch.
