This afternoon I finally grabbed the pile of films that still needed to be watched, took them out of the seal and watched them.

Was a little bit disappointing:

Hossein has charisma, but not quite the right one to carry a film as a hero. He's better suited to playing the bad guy. He also portrayed his character rather distantly, and it was difficult for the viewer to truly connect with him, let alone feel any emotion.

The film itself is slow-moving, with a lot of silent scenes and accompanying close-ups, but these didn't add much value and seemed to be there only because that's what the genre is all about, or so director Hossein seems to have thought. In short: it just didn't move forward!

The nice score does add some value to the film, because this film doesn't really have a story or much special action.

It's also very strange that both the beginning and the end were in black and white. Why?

I also absolutely hated the scene with the rabbit; it was incredibly cruel to watch and served absolutely no purpose for the rest of the film. Ugh! Bad choice, Mr. Hossein!

For the atmosphere and the beautiful Mercier, we still get a five, or 2.5 stars.
