Jurassic World: Rebirth plot

"A new era is born."

Five years after the events of 'Jurassic World: Dominion,' the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The remaining dinosaurs live in an isolated, equatorial environment with a climate similar to the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures in that tropical biosphere hold the key to a medicine that could provide miraculous life-saving benefits to humanity.

"T-Rex vs. Rubber Boat"**

The atmosphere is good at the beginning. You think: “Yes, now it’s coming”. But then… nothing happens at all. Literally the first 45 minutes not a single dinosaur to be seen. And when one finally comes, the famous mosasaur, the characters are at first very happy with that beast, but then suddenly become terrified of it. Logical, right?

What follows is a series of absurd choices: people jump into the sea without a problem, with a five-year-old child, among the dinosaurs. And of course nothing happens. Not exciting, not logical, just… empty.

The low point? A T-Rex wrestling with a rubber dinghy and the dinghy stays intact. Not a scratch. And I haven't even mentioned that Snickers wrapper that destroys a multi-million dollar facility. Or the scene where someone has to run away with a burning torch but can't throw it away. Seriously?

There's also a dino in there that looks more like a Xenomorph than anything that should have ever come out of Jurassic Park. And that just hurts, especially if you're a huge fan of the original trilogy like I am, and liked the later trilogy too.

The big plus points?

Scarlett Johansson (just good, charisma saves a lot)

Mahershala Ali who really knows how to add something in terms of energy.

The music occasionally hints at the iconic Jurassic Park theme, but that's like putting ketchup on a moldy grilled cheese sandwich: it doesn't cut it.

Final verdict

If my 6 year old daughter had co-written it, we probably would have had a more believable script and more creative dinosaurs.

A T-Rex or Raptor is cool enough, you don't need to add hybrid horror creations.

If this franchise wants to survive, they need to get back to basics: tension, atmosphere, dinos… and logic.

2 stars. For Scarlett

Starts a bit slow but last hour and a half there is plenty of action, I enjoyed myself very much. And Scarlett is of course always worth it. Seen in Dolby Cinema and 3d.

The 7th film already from the Jurassic Park/World franchise. The clichés are confirmed once again in the story that now consists of a forgotten island full of dinosaurs and a team that consists of muscles, a dino export, a money wolf and coincidentally a child (or 2). The story is even thinner than before with dialogues that ChatGPT itself would be ashamed of, but fortunately there is progress in the action and atmosphere. It is not yet at the ankles of the original, but there is already a slight improvement from the previous Jurassic World films. Although that was not so difficult. Nice popcorn, but curious how many times they will keep recycling the same thing.

I do enjoy the interaction between our characters and the dinosaurs, and it's quite fun to watch the drama unfold. I will admit, though, I do enjoy the commradarie and levity in the face of unknown danger and terrifying situations.

The Jurassic Universe still knows how to engage you with having emotions for the characters, as the many horrorific events are unfolding.
