Pretty intense drama film based on the true story of French freediver Audrey Mestre. Without giving away the punch line of the film, I found the story impressive. Also, I found the nature of their relationship quite toxic. The ending of the film stayed in my head for a long time, controlling my thoughts. Especially when I saw the credits...... It's a warning that not everything is as it seems. Yes, definitely worth checking out!

So I think this is a great movie.

Visually anyway, although that is of course not that difficult with the subject. The build-up is also almost perfect, and just like the French title promises, you are sucked in by the story. It almost manages to provide insight into the most absurd sport that mankind has devised - no limits diving.

The film makes no secret of the fact that the story is Audrey Mestre's, and pretty meticulous, too, in my opinion. For after the film, there is also a ~50 minute documentary on youtube that is really worth watching. And with a little more effort you will also find the official investigation reports, which give a much less one-sided picture of the outcome, although I find that difficult to reconcile with the images from the documentary.

Rowe is fine in the lead role, and with a bit of good will also resembles Mestre, and Zermani does not resemble Ferreras at all, but does bring a terrifying intensity with his stingy eyes. The rest of the crew is also unknown to me, but they convince as a somewhat unhinged group of divers with a very special hobby.

From a technical point of view, a little rattle here and there, from which you may see that the budget was not exactly infinite. Doesn't really matter anywhere, by the way. What is convincing is the power of the story, and it also shows once again that reality easily produces a very strong film.

Beautiful. I've never been interested in diving, simply because it's never really crossed my path, whether in real life or in literature or other movies. But it is of course a perfect subject for film, because it offers plenty of opportunities to shoot beautiful scenes. And that is what this film does: the images are beautiful and the atmosphere with ditto soundtrack is strong. Furthermore, a plot that involves a very intense relationship, so that the film does not exactly ripple. Whether it actually happened or not, the ending is fitting for dramaturgical reasons. 4*.
