Labor Day plot

Awesome movie!
Despite a star cast, the film is little known because it has not been shown in the cinema. Recorded recently on TV and watched last night.
As mentioned, the film has a real star cast. Fortunately, it also lives up to it so that we are looking at a strong piece of acting. The film has a very slow pace, but thanks to Winslet and Brolin it remains both exciting and interesting. Also a big compliment to Gattlin Griffith, the son of Winslet in the movie.
I had a great time with this, Reitman makes interesting and good films anyway, but this is definitely one he can be proud of.

A single mother and her son live in a beautiful house. They go to the supermarket for groceries and a man forces himself on them. He has escaped from prison and is temporarily moving in with them. He says. That is of course a given for a predictable thriller. But it's not that easy in this movie. The story is all a little different than you would expect. And it stays that way until the end. Not that it will be a shocking film, but it does remain fascinating and you also remain constantly tense whether it will end well. And in addition, the acting is also excellent, although the story is not always believable, but also not totally improbable. Good enough for a film that ultimately stays well on the right side of the line. Pretty clever, because there were many pitfalls lurking, but they were nicely avoided. I'm just curious if I'll still feel that way the next time I see him. It really is that kind of movie. But I can also imagine that if I don't see him again for quite a few years, I'll have completely forgotten about him by then. So it's like I'm seeing him for the first time. So the 3.5 star is not fixed for me yet.

Friendly. Winslet always does act; I hardly know Brolin, so I didn't expect much from it. The acting turns out to be more than decent in the end, because there is clearly a lot of chemistry between the protagonists. The plot is also quite captivating. It also helps that the drama is not turned on too heavily. 3*.
