How screenwriters Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg must have rubbed their hands when they came up with the 'shocking' twist at the end. Bit of a shame that I had already been annoyed to death for about 80 minutes by a very poorly constructed story in which the time-frame is completely wrong. The closing twist gives an excuse for that, but unfortunately that excuse doesn't make it any better. More cardboard characters who don't deserve a better fate because of their irritating wails, more cassette tapes and recorders, more of the same cryptic, quasi-philosophical ramblings by Tobin Bell about the value of life, but nothing new. The film sins against the 9th commandment, but also against the 11th commandment: you shall not waste other people's time.

I really liked the storylines of one,,, and part three in particular, it was well put together.

The rest was unnecessarily complex, and above all illogical.

Very occasionally I randomly watch a part, because the torture if you feel like it and the clever traps are definitely worth a look.

But they didn't get any better, so did this part.

The story is yet another excuse to let the traps and the horror do their thing .

And the camera work is much better thanks to the Spike brothers,,, I had all parts on DVD, but the quality didn't improve, in fact it never was.

But it does stand out,,, strong full HD camera work.

The traps and additional gore are not wrong here .

But the whole story about it can actually be stolen from me.

Has been totally superfluous since part 4 with plot holes that you say to you.

But still entertained.

Although I have to say that this plot twist was quite strong in the end.

Better than some other parts .

I understood that with jigsaw the whole franchise needs to be revived.

Ehm something with money

They go about their business but ,,,always remains somehow worth watching.

If only because the American torture porn horror films have little to offer.

Not enough ,,,,but if you like r,,,, feel free to look,, you won't go wrong.

Another entertaining installment in this franchise that I really do appreciate. It is of course no longer so surprising because you know what to expect by now. Still, this film manages to surprise the viewer again at the end with a well-chosen concept in which two timelines intertwine and yet again sends you on the wrong path. 7/10
