Just returned from the AV in the Euroscoop in Genk.

I admit that I'm not a good reviewer, I'll leave this to the people who have eaten it. But, what did I think of IT?

Fantastically fun film, very nice sets, relatively good CGI for this small budget, a lot of atmospheric scares and a wonderfully insane deathly scary Pennywise! Kids play this quite well in combination with a nice dose of successful humor. The only downside is that the film was a bit too long.. Although I enjoyed it!

But reconsider.

Especially because when I read my first review I don't think it's worthy, so I'll just type a new message. Moreover, after seeing Chapter Two, let's bring back the memory of the 2017 cinema visit.

The number still stands. Compared to the second, this one is definitely the winner in terms of horror. In general, this movie is much scarier and creepier than the second, and also makes a little less noise. Although the film exudes a playful vibe, it is sometimes vicious with gore and dirty moments.

Horror and Skarsgård are the most successful elements of this film. Pennywise in 2017 is really a figure that instills quite a bit of fear, where the version of Curry was especially funny and a sunny appearance if this one was allowed to come into the picture.

Moreover, everything has a lot of atmosphere, a playful, yet menacing atmosphere looms over the town. Scenes in the sewers are exciting, and some characters still manage to give you a few shivers. But nowhere is it terrifying, then again it isn't.

But still a very nice movie that absolutely never bores and is one of my favorite horror movies. This one is bigger than the average horror movie, and I can have a lot of fun with this.

Somewhere I would have seen the looks of some characters differently, Beverly cutting her ponytail was a downer to me. But that could be just me as a person, or the movie that just dutifully follows the book ( I will definitely read it again).

Fairly long playing time, but it never gets boring. Types like Skarsgård need multiple horror movies. There aren't many actors anymore who visibly enjoy their roles and really immerse themselves in them. This film clearly transcends the average horror film for me. Nowhere scary, but quite exciting and the fun level is high. Delicious.

Despite positive stories, I found it quite disappointing. Yes, it's not as cheesy and low-budget as the miniseries, but the remake - apart from a few moments - doesn't really impress.

The problem lies in the somewhat weird mix of suspense, humor, and cheap thrills and too many tropes.

And well, the new Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) just isn't that scary. More monstrous looking, but that backfires.

Tim Curry looked more human, but (because of that?) creepier. Moreover, Tim Curry managed to radiate something alienating with his strong mimicry.

I found the child actors varied. Beverly (Sophia Lillis) and Richie (Finn Wolfhard) were consistently convincing. The latter provided the funniest jokes in the film.

As a horror film, however, I expected more, so for now an average 3*. Time for Chapter 2!
