Still continued with the second season of Riget after the first season that was mainly disappointing and too bland and vague for me. It has to suit you, and that turned out not to be much different in the case of season 2.

Although the beginning is just as strange and hopeful as the first part, the series immediately shows its most non-comic and absurd side with the uber lame scene around the coffee at the conference table, and it must suit you which it doesn't with me, because Jesus, what a pathetic affair around Helmer and his voodoo medicine. And just like in the first season, there are interesting and strong moments in terms of horror and atmosphere that are unfortunately again brutally interrupted by the usual lame nonsense and scheming between the staff and patients. In addition, there is the purely uncomfortable vibe that the baby brings about that I understand the term absurdist comedy, which is on Wiki under genre designation. Although, comedy? Are there people who find this funny?

But hey, who thought it couldn't get any crazier after the first season, will still be surprised by weird race experiments, a sect in the basement and the monstrosity of a baby. And I have to honestly say that at some point I do start to see the humor in the misery that the easily hateful Helmer brings upon himself. In addition, with the weird and unclear situation in the basement it still tends a little bit towards horror/scary. But for me this is far beyond my taste and knowledge territory and I really have nothing to do with this and I don't understand what is so good here, nor what others like about it. With Van Trier himself of course with that deadpan and cheerful face to orate and act too cryptic. Sigh, know what you're getting into I would say....
