With the disappearance of a young girl near a refugee center, the entire country's attention turns to the small village of Karkebo in Uppland. Self-righteous and narrow-minded lawyer Tilda Renström discovers that an unknown refugee, whom she is about to deport, has a keen eye for crime and clues. Recently fired as a prosecutor, Tilda sees the opportunity to present the fugitive's thoughts as her own in hopes of getting her old job back. The man is willing to help, but wants something in return.
