Shingeki no Kyojin plot

Hundreds of years ago, humanity was nearly wiped out by the titans. A small part of the people survived by building a metropolis with gigantic walls, higher than the largest titans. In the present, the metropolis has not seen a titan in a hundred years. But one day a colossal Titan suddenly appears and destroys part of the outer wall. Eren Jaeger and his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman witness the destruction of their city and the death of their mother at the hands of the man-eating Titans. Eren swears to kill every Titan and exact revenge for all humanity.

Iets strakker geschreven dan de eerste reeks (lees: de flashback-structuur is minder hinderlijk aanwezig) maar het blijft een serie met veel opbouw en weinig spanning. Soms moet je erg lang op je honger blijven wachten, met veel plot exposition en melodramatisch gewauwel eromheen. Al zijn de episodes waarin de boel losbarst dan weer erg tof; qua animatie misschien het beste wat je op dit vlak kunt krijgen!?

A little tighter than the first series (read: the flashback structure is less annoying) but it remains a series with a lot of structure and little tension. Sometimes you have to wait a very long time for your hunger, with a lot of plot exposition and melodramatic drivel around it. Although the episodes in which things break loose are very cool; In terms of animation perhaps the best you can get in this area!?

Minder hinderlijk? Hier nemen flashbacks soms hele afleveringen in beslag en vinden ze plaats in het midden van gevechten! Ik had er niet zo'n last van, maar ik heb er veel mensen over zien klagen. Ik ben het verder niet helemaal met je eens. Wat zijn gevechten waard zonder spanningsopbouw? Als we aan de lopende band gevechten zouden hebben, zonder dat de personages uitgediept zouden worden en de wereld zou worden opgebouwd, zou het een lege actieserie zijn geweest zonder emotionele diepgang. Dan heb ik liever een serie die af en toe wat melodramatisch en langzaam is. In de manga wordt na dit seizoen de wereld steeds meer uitgewerkt en wordt de thematiek van de serie veel explicieter verkend, en mijns inziens wordt de serie dan pas echt goed. Net als in de eerdere seizoenen van Game of Thrones wordt het vrijwel onmogelijk om de personages op te delen in "goed" en "kwaad", en menselijke thema's als racisme, discriminatie en culturele / technologische ontwikkeling komen op de voorgrond te staan. De animatie vind ik ook niet zo bijzonder. De stijl is vrij saai en de actiescènes zijn vermakelijk maar geen van allen echt memorabel. Maar hé, over het cijfer zijn we het in ieder geval eens.

I don't completely agree with you. What are battles worth without building tension? If we'd been fighting on a regular basis, without deepening the characters and building the world, it would have been an empty action series with no emotional depth. Then I prefer a series that is occasionally a bit melodramatic and slow. In the manga after this season, the world is more and more fleshed out and the theme of the series is explored much more explicitly, and I think that's when the series really gets good. As in the previous seasons of Game of Thrones, it becomes virtually impossible to divide the characters into "good" and "evil", and human themes such as racism, discrimination and cultural/technological development come to the fore.

I don't really like the animation either. The style is quite boring and the action scenes are entertaining but none of them really memorable. But hey, at least we agree on the number.
