I was afraid it would be a far cry from Entourage/Californication. Influences from those popular shows can be seen, but the presence of anthropomorphic characters gives it its own feel. The show is funniest in its subtle visual jokes where you see little more than a giraffe boarding a Ferrari or life-sized sparrows flying away. BoJack himself is a pleasantly exaggerated caricature of a narcissistic bastard, who actually doesn't have anything wrong with the people around him. This unexpectedly makes it a more moving series than you would expect from the bland concept. Somehow I started to feel that this has the depth that later seasons of Californication were forced to look for. Let's hope the level stays the same in follow-up series.
