"Keep the sand out of your weapons. Keep those actions clear. I'll see you on the beach!"

I found the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan very realistic, very intense and above all very good..!

Unfortunately, the film then completely collapses and turns into a commercial (promo) for a mix of GI Joe and Mission Impossible. Naturally, the usual dose of American propaganda drips off the screen.

I see this film as a very big missed opportunity...

Something much better could have come out of this!

One (brown) star for the spectacular first 20 minutes and the beautiful decor...

I can dream of this film by now, this classic continues to fascinate every time I see it again. The first half hour of the battle of Normandy is in my opinion the best war scene ever, so realistic and beautifully put together. The story of a group of soldiers who must track down James Ryan, the last surviving son of his family is simple but effective. As for the characters, every soldier in the group had something, but in the end it's mainly Hanks who plays a great role as Captain Miller, and Sizemore does a very good job as well. The score by John Williams is also very nice. As for the patriotism I was in a few reviews here, I didn't see it, none of the soldiers care about the war and prefer to go home, it seemed more like an ode to the men who stood by each other, in instead of their homeland.

An incredibly beautiful film that is full of impressive battle scenes, especially the beginning and the end, a deserved classic, 4.5!

What a movie this is, especially the 1st half hour will come in and with your speakers on hard for sure. Everyone knows the story of a small group that has to find Private Ryan. The cast including Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore and the rest of the cast are convincing. I still think the action scenes are one of the best in a movie, and what I said with your speakers on hard, they come across as intense. The same tone is continued later in Band Of Brothers and The Pacific, Saving Private Ryan remains an intense film and I see how horrible war is and continues to be every year.
