The Invasion plot
"Do not trust anyone. Do not show emotion. Do not fall asleep."
The Invasion tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that changes people's behavior. A psychiatrist from Washington, DC (Nicole Kidman) discovers that the origin of the epidemic is extraterrestrial. Then she must fight to protect her son, who is said to have the key to stop an imminent invasion.

On the bland side.
Unfortunately, this Invasion doesn't quite know what it wants to be. It will borrow from all kinds of genres, but in the end it manages to convince with nothing. A bit of horror, sci-fi, thriller, action, drama ... it's all there, but in the end it is mainly a somewhat dull film.
The story is well known, you can't draw much from it these days. But with these kinds of films it is mainly about the effect, it is where Hirschbiegel lets it down. It must be said that here and there something interesting happens in terms of editing, but often the film is also too fleeting, as a result of which the film lacks atmosphere.
And without atmosphere there is no tension. The action scenes are also rather bland, the drama mainly by telephone. Nice to choose some more famous actors, but they are also not of the level that they can take an entire film in tow.
It's not really bad anywhere, just rather salty and bland.

After Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) , Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) (the best) and Body Snatchers (1993) (I didn't like it but I want to revise ), Now a few years before that we will undoubtedly go to the next film adaptation. And a lot goes wrong. The beginning is without structure and only plot-driven, the background that you have in every film and that makes it unique is too vague here and is hardly worked out well (the "new man" is no longer at war and with the war atmosphere of 2007 was indeed a topical theme ) The film misses a chance to make it really exciting by making the son immune instead of putting him against his mother) and an extremely weak fray forced happy ending. Weak music and pretty awful editing top it off.
This is not as bad as Hirschbiegel's heavily overrated Das Experiment, the fact remains a bit fascinating and the cast is quite reasonable, but this is not much more than a variant on the well-known theme but without any form of taste. . Better script and a director with more face and there could have been something here.
