Above average thriller. Jodie Foster plays excellent, and the rest of the crew goes along with that as well. Clichés pass by, but the film as a whole is quite nice. The strength of this film lies more in the course of the story and the way of telling than in action or suspense. There are no noteworthy outliers, but as a thriller it is not a bad choice for entertainment.

Good movie, good story, good acting, but despite that there is still something missing at times.
Something that cannot be directly named, but it did ensure that you are not constantly sucked into the film, something that at times takes the tension out of the film.

The film starts off very sweet, you get the feeling that you have put on a romantic comedy. Fortunately, that image quickly changes due to the brutal event, after which the film immediately becomes more interesting.

Despite Jodie Foster in the lead role, the film is really carried by the good acting of Terrence Howard.
Foster, who actually always plays well and believably, also has something irritating about him. A certain accent, a look in her eyes, not a pleasant charisma. Also the role she plays somehow doesn't fit her appearance.

The film has a reasonable tension build-up, but every time you hope for a climax the next shot is a scene at the radio station, the coffee shop or the police station, where "normal" life is going on.
This ensures that you wander a bit and the tension is gone. Also, the events went quite easily without much effort and resistance.

Also, the Twist that Mercer realizes that Erica might be behind the murders is actually based on almost nothing; A general drawing of someone with longer hair than Erica and an elevator bell that he hears over a telephone conversation. In the last scenes Erica gets the data from the girlfriend of the killer, in the end very simple and there is no sequel to the ending which is a shame.

Despite this and that there is much more to get out of it, the film was definitely worth watching, it had a nice ending and the film scores a good enough. Well, as far as I'm concerned, thanks in large part to Terrence Howard.

The Brave One a film with a story that I think was a bit far fetched. Everything also seems illogical. Jodie Foster's panicked attitude also soon gets boring. Obviously not my thing, expected much more.
