Tom Ripley, an American art dealer who conducts a shady trade in fake paintings between New York and Hamburg uses a framer with leukemia. He puts him in touch with one of his mafia friends. He offers him a large sum of money if he is willing to shoot a criminal. With this money he would leave his wife and children in good shape. He accepts the offer, unaware that he will be plunged into a nightmare of betrayal and deception.

Excellent thriller that doesn't go wild anywhere but that retains its own character. Smooth camera work, the plot is well worked out and the details have been given enough attention. John Malkovich fills in his character very neatly and I always think Lena Headey is a nice woman. I have a weakness for beautiful settings and I think the large villa adds a lot to the atmosphere. Nice job.

Malkovich was really great. That man is acting so well. Truly a perfect role for him. Wonderfully emotionless and dry. The story was also very nice. Also enjoyed the setting, the atmosphere and beautiful images. Lovely Italian atmosphere.
