Thriller that is unfortunately way too long, because between the duller parts there is interesting material. All in all, it could have been a lot more. Too bad of the politically correct ending. 2,5*.

Extreme Measures
This was one movie I was really looking forward to. I usually like to see Hugh Grant play, and a serious role seemed like a challenge for him. He did really well, as did Gene Hackman and Sarah Jessica Parker. The film has many exciting scenes that often follow at a fast pace. As the end neared I became more and more curious. Maybe Grant should go for these kinds of roles a little more often (although I also just enjoy his klutz roles). I definitely thought this was one of the better movies I've seen in ages, in my opinion it definitely deserves a high rating :

Extreme Measures is a fairly exciting thriller, which is more fascinating than expected.
Personally, I would never expect someone like Hugh Grant in a movie like this, but it must be said that he does a pretty good job. He sometimes provides some light humor, which usually works. Consistently good opponent Gene Hackman, convincingly plays a doctor determined to find a solution to paralysis, not taking things too seriously that can't stand the light of day.
The story is also quite interesting. Usually the emphasis is on the action, but in Extreme Measures the psychological approach is chosen and that works quite well. The supporting music isn't bad either and in combination with the story, that makes for some pretty tense moments. A pity is the ending, which I would rather have seen differently, but that's often too much to ask, with these kinds of films.
Pretty good and I dare even call it a small recommendation for people who are looking for a nice thriller.
3.5*
