In futuristic 2048 Los Angeles, Nexus-8 combat assistant, Sapper Morton, heads to the city center to sell his protein-rich artificial nematodes. There, the friendly Morton attracts the attention of a sadistic group of thugs who, after attempting to attack his homeless friend, Ella, and her mother, trap him and force him into a deadly fight. But as Sapper flees the scene, someone in the shadows has been through it all. Is Morton's future at stake?
