"Allen Bauer Thought He'd Never Find The Right Woman... He Was Only Half Wrong!"
Allan runs a thriving fruit wholesaler with his brother Freddie. But in matters of love he is very unlucky. That changes after Allan nearly drowns during a melancholy trip to Cape Cod. He literally falls by the wayside and is rescued by a stunning mermaid. The next day, this mermaid suddenly appears at the foot of the Statue of Liberty in New York. Although she tries to keep her past a secret, it still haunts her: a scientist becomes fascinated by her and kidnaps her to conduct scientific research.

Saw this film on Net5 again yesterday and even after years it was still fun and fascinating to watch.
they don't make such nice movies anymore so I give 5 stars.

Nice film about a man who falls in love with a woman who has a big secret. A fairly original and also somewhat brave rom-com with a touch of fantasy that you could describe as a modern version of the fairy tale the Little Mermaid. Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah make a great couple and get on well, but most of the jokes are for John Candy and Eugene Levy.

Splash to me is pure nostalgia from my childhood. At the time secretly fell in love with this Daryl “Madison” Hannah. She was a very beautiful girl, partly because of that beautiful smile of hers. It must have been over 25 years since I saw Splash again. I found it online yesterday at archive.org.
A good rom-com in itself. Not everything is equally funny and occasionally the funny situations are telephoned, but it remains entertaining. Sometimes a somewhat simple course of the plot, but that is not the most important. It's the characters that make the film and they do it very well here. John Candy and Eugene Levy are doing well, but Hanks is also good at his first commercial success.
Excellent underwater images too, excellent casting and a touch of nostalgia do the rest. Film has always stayed with me and I also liked the revision so many years later. Beautiful!
