Hartenstraat plot
The nine streets, which have connected the Amsterdam canals since the seventeenth century, are like a village in the city. In the evening the domain of the hipsters, during the day a shopping district with trendy clothing stores next to old-fashioned retail stores. Everyone knows each other, it's a mini society full of colorful characters of all ages. In Hartenstraat, literally the heart of the nine streets, it suddenly seems less cozy when the fashionable Katje opens a high fashion store. She is wildly annoyed by her neighbor Daan and his caterer's shop. And he doesn't appreciate her snobbish behavior at all. Until they meet online.

Hartenstraat
Sanne Vogel has mastered the rom-com genre, and despite some minor flaws and annoying subplots, I had a great time with Hartenstraat. The best thing Vogel has done is cast Kenzari and Van Doesburgh as the two lead actors. The interplay looks natural, and especially Kenzari shows what he has to offer. And Georgina Verbaan as a crazy stalker is of course always fun. I like to take the annoying supporting roles for granted. Compliments also to the young actress Nadia Koetje. As Saar, she is simply endearing.

What is it with this movie? He reminded me that I liked him quite a bit. And then you look and then you think; what a monstrosity! All cliche, super predictable. Very made and forced. Also super annoying hip stuff and exaggerated multiculti with of course the gays. As wrong as what this movie. And yet he managed to get me again. Even though my mind tells me to completely tear this movie down. But I still give it three stars. And maybe there really should be more. But I can't allow myself that. I'm still not ready for that.
