If Mrs. When Bakshi from an Indian village is determined to find suitable suitors for her four daughters during a wedding, it is the intelligent and stubborn Lalita (Aishwarya Rai) who opposes this. She wants to get married out of love and that causes a lot of headaches for her mother. Then Lalita meets wealthy American Will Darcy (Martin Henderson) and sparks instantly fly. But are they sparks of love or of contempt? Lalita thinks Darcy is really just a California snob and Lalita comes across to Darcy as a beautiful lady who just doesn't know much about the world. And just as they both seem to be succumbing to their own prejudices and the gossip that has been spreading, things turn for the better of the two. If they can conquer their pride and put aside their prejudices, there will finally be room for mutual love.
