revised.

Mainly because I thought Splinter would really please me with a review. Unfortunately, it hardly comes out higher than my first grade (2.5*) but there's no denying that this is quite a well-crafted horror film. One with a very nice and special concept.

Wilkins clearly had little budget at his disposal and often manages this skillfully, but sometimes too much. That monster, for example, looks horribly dirty, but when it has to move, the camera shoots in all directions. Normally this works well for me, but now you can see so little of the horror that it is actually useless.

Of the gore that you do see, there are a number of dirty and explicit things in between. The make-up of both the gore and the monster are exceptionally successful, so it's a shame that there isn't much to see. Furthermore, the situation is not too exciting and neither are the characters, despite the fact that an attempt is made at originality by having a part consist of criminals.

Acting is decent, Whigham just stands head and shoulders above the rest. In terms of tension you don't feel that much and it doesn't get really intense anywhere. It is mainly hope for some dirty images in between, because if you do get to see them a bit it is very cool.

Fortunately, it doesn't last long, but I didn't find this much more special when reviewing. Sometimes not on the too interesting side and horror that is portrayed a little too unclearly. It's a bit of a shame, but what can be seen now gets a slightly higher rating from my side.

Watched it for the first time today and I have to say that this film really surprised me!

No long-winded build-up, but at the same time tension in the opening scene, after that the misery starts quickly, the playing time is also not long at 82 minutes, so the whole film does happen and we see tension and gore.

I also really liked the ending! Very entertaining
