The first film made sure that I immediately started playing the games because of the oppressive atmosphere, the cool soundtrack and the psychology, but this second part falls short in many areas. It felt like everything had to be explained to the viewer, while that mysterious underlayer is exactly what fascinated me about Silent Hill. The way in which Rose tells Harry in a flashback that she's sending Sharon back was an example of both terrible CGI and dutifully linking the two films together as quickly as possible. How do you mean. Since when is their house in Silent Hill? So the mirror made no sense.

It is nice to see how the opening of the game Silent Hill 3 also opens this film. The gore is again omnipresent but lacks the tension that was so prominent in the first part. Also very unfortunate how the scene with the nurses looked too much like the one in the first part. Nicely made, but not original. That made the previous director more exciting because he took the time to portray his scenes.

The fast pace of the film suggests that the maker thought it more important how he could portray the filth of the creatures that live in Silent Hill as grotesquely as possible. The psychological depth that typifies the series has been lost sight of.

An unnecessarily complicated sequel to the low-profile Silent Hill in which Sharon Da Silva – now going through life as Heather Mason – is forced to return to Silent Hill to rescue her father from the clutches of The Order, for whom Sharon is the worst enemy. Has some interesting visual ideas with good costumes and make-up effects, but the story gets unnecessarily complex and there's no build-up of tension at all, so the spectacularly intended (and filmed in 3D) shock effects will probably leave you completely cold.

Mediocre sequel.

A game where all logic is thrown overboard and an attempt is made to lean purely on the 'creepy' element without any form of concrete and clear story. But that doesn't work when the film is rarely exciting, the excessively used CGI is very poor and the creature design is clownesque. Sure PyramidHead is still cool, but fucking hell... The rest. That spider monster, Alyssa herself.... Not good.

The well-known Silent Hill soundtrack remains very cool, but it should enhance the atmosphere with creepy images and a gloomy film, but that is not the case with this Silent Hill Revelation, unlike its predecessor.
