Durak plot
Dima Nikitin is a simple and honest plumber who works in a small Russian town. In a dormitory with mostly drunks and outcasts, the pipes burst and it becomes dangerous for those present. Everyone should be evacuated immediately but nobody cares about these people. Something inside Nikitin also snaps, causing him to embark on a long odyssey the same night to fight the rotten system of corrupt bureaucrats.

Staggering example of corruption and mismanagement by a government that only thinks about itself and, when cornered, will stop at nothing, not even between its members, to save its own skin.
Of course, the class distinction is also strongly emphasized here: on the one hand the partying authorities, on the other hand a people who live far below the poverty line we know.
Dark images in this film, which is also well performed. Natalya Surkova certainly makes an impression as the mayor admired by her supporters, although, in times of need, she is not always grateful for that...

Excellent film about a plumber who sounds the alarm when he suspects that an apartment building is about to collapse. An original and strong story that raises a number of (ethical) dilemmas (about a whistleblower who has to deal with corruption and bureaucracy). It may be a bit obvious, but the film shows in a compelling way how the various decisions are made.

Raw, gray, grimy film about an apartment block that is about to collapse in a small Russian town. The desolation and hopelessness oozes from it. Impoverishment and poverty is in stark contrast to those in power who bathe in luxury and live like pigs. Wealth that is often based on corruption and money evasion at the expense of society.
A film with a number of strong scenes. The opening scene, for example, immediately picks up on it literally and sets the tone further. Idealist Dima tries to find a way out of this hopeless future by studying and using his knowledge to guide himself through corruption.
It becomes interesting when reality dawns on those in power and they find themselves in a dilemma. It is very questionable whether the concern was really about the residents or whether the fear prevailed that their corruption would come to the surface. The fact that there was no quick fix didn't really help. A typical example was the last conversation about the residents with the conclusion who would miss this scum...
Strong film, not only in terms of content, but also technically. Strong acting, excellent soundtrack, strong direction and cinematography. Good looking!
