"Justice served one torture at a time."
A writer (Sarah Butler) retreats to an abandoned cabin in the woods for her latest book. Here she is brutally attacked and raped and left for dead. Recovered, she decides to take revenge on the people who attacked her. And she won't shy away from this revenge.

Not bad, but as is often the case with remakes that don't deviate too much from the original, you already know in advance how it will end and that also takes away a lot of the tension. On the other hand, the author's humiliation and the rape that followed were quite heavy and the killings of the tormentors later by that writer very cruel, albeit slightly over the top. Positive in this film, I found that prudishness was fortunately absent. I am mainly talking about that scene where the writer, battered by that rape, walked naked through the woods towards the bridge.

Surprisingly,
I had already read that this was going to be a heavy/brutal film. That caught my interest, so I decided to check it out!
Starts off quite disappointing, not that much suspense and at first thought I even turned on the wrong movie. Then I thought: now it's going to happen, now it's going to be exciting! But unfortunately this turned out not to be the case. Then came the rape scene and the tension set in. I found this piece not too bad in terms of brutality, but the tension was certainly present.
Then the middle part of the film has some tension every now and then and then the (what seemed absurd at first) end starts to come. Suddenly Sarah Butler is back and no one has ever seen her. Then a question starts to occur to me of how is this possible? the ending does have some very exciting and brutal scenes. Because of the brutal and original kills and then the ending was actually the best of the film, because that did grab me because of the tension. I thought some of the acting was pretty good (Andrew Howard, Chad Lindberg) and some not really (Sarah Butler, Daniel Franzese).
There are 2 other parts and I will be watching them soon! For now I only found this movie a bit disappointing in the beginning and the ending is a bit stronger.

This film has also been revised and it is still a strong film, which leaves you with an uneasy feeling. I think the rape scene, and especially the exciting build-up to it, gives a good insight into how something like that must feel. Also the way the victim is humiliated! Although it sometimes gets a bit comical (the sheriff and that shotgun). And then Jennifer's revenge actions that fall nicely into the "poetic justice" category: the tough guy who said "no teeth!" his teeth are pulled out, the pretty boy with the crest of hair loses his face, the fat boy with his camera who captured the rape and stalking all over loses his eyes, and the filthy sheriff who said "I'm an ass-man!" gets a shotgun shoved in his ass! I can certainly appreciate the irony.
