I'm a fan of Anderson's movies. Story wise often a mess but they always know how to entertain me. Next to Resident Evil: Afterlife the best film in his oeuvre.

From a technical point of view, quite high, now high may not be the right word, but it is certainly interesting. A ship has been to the end of space and beyond. Apparently that was hell . So, from a storytelling point of view, it is well put together. The terror in space theme is well worked out. Everything that can go wrong will go wrong in the worst of ways. Some very strong kills and a very atmospheric camera and lighting leave you on the edge of your seat. Kamen's music is also very strong. Fishburn plays his part very well, but Neill does it even better. Wonderful role from him. The rest of the cast doesn't really appear much, and they don't seem to know what to do with their roles. And I'm mainly talking about Richarson. Isaacs is also doing a great job. He does have some nice roles to his name.

A genre that always works well for me. Very atmospheric and well directed. The effects look good, and the designs of the Event Horizon, which are based on Notre Dam, are very nicely done. A topper in the genre.

Event Horizon is a fine SF-Horror from the 90s. The movie is kind of a combination of Alien and Hellraiser and strangely enough, that works quite nicely.

2047. A group of astronauts are tasked with finding the missing spaceship Event Horizon. The ship rises through artificial black holes with which it can bridge enormous distances. Who knows where the ship has been in 7 years?

Sam Neill plays the ship's 'architect' and gets a chance to recreate his role from In the Mouth of Madness. Laurence Fishburne - before The Matrix - plays the captain and then we have Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter) and Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers ).

It all starts pretty standard, but once on the ship there is a wonderful mysterious atmosphere. We see unprecedented horror elements for SF, such as hallucinations. The film plays wonderfully with cosmic fears, and all the infernal visions clearly indebted to Clive Barker were pretty horrifying. It is said that the film would have lasted 2 hours, but Paul WS Anderson had to cut out the more shocking scenes. Very unfortunate and the result is that many of the visions have been edited very briefly and that the script does not work quite well (whose has suddenly completely changed).

All in all an entertaining SF with a successful concept. The special effects were decent, but clearly a product of the 90s. With the exception of the 90s techno, Michael Kamen's music was successful and the film was also well shot.

Watched this movie again today, this time on a Blu-ray disc.

I didn't think it was a high-flyer, a bit of a strange film, it's not really horror, but all a bit mysterious because you don't know what will happen and why etc.

I expected that there was an Alien or some kind of Predator on board the ship, but it was more of an imagination what people have on board the Event Horizon That's why I couldn't place the film properly .
Unfortunately I can't get further than 2.5 stars, they could have done a lot more with this , for example to put a predator or scary creature in this film and then let it last half an hour longer
