Horror film about a failed artist and a hole in the wall. Well, not that bad. A bit of The Death Bed of Possession by Zulawski. Also qualitatively somewhere in between. Sometimes it seems like a typical case of a graduation film at the film academy, sometimes it becomes quite intriguing. Or a little dirty.

Strange horror film with a unique premise, but unfortunately developed in a rather short-sighted way. Especially when the film pushes some melodramatic notes towards the finale, the substantive flaws start to become more and more noticeable. It has everything to do with the toxic relationship between Sean McGrath and that hole very suddenly turning into a sincere relationship. Michael Medaglia was responsible for both the writing and the direction and at least manages to choose a concept that I have not seen before, which fortunately makes it all interesting. The art world is further ridiculed in a somewhat too simple, but nevertheless comical way. Had Medaglia focused less on caricatures, it could have been exceptionally successful. The short running time is also an absolute plus and the film is easily captivating, but disappoints on both a dramatic and atmospheric level. The tension is simply not increased anywhere and that is ultimately what I watch a horror film for, but there are worse variants within this type.
