Added to Amazon Prime.

The situation is probably different in America, but here it means there's a very good chance you'll be served some ultra-cheap thing. But hey, Rogers was in it, and musicals are appreciated here, so why not take a chance?

Well, because this film is absolutely flawed. The sets are school play-like, the camerawork is anything but dynamic, the costumes are from a carnival shop, and the actors are truly terribly cast. One of the stepdaughters even seemed older than her mother.

On top of that, Warren, besides being a terribly dimwitted girl, can't sing a single note. While the songs are average musical quality, the singing itself is often unlistenable. And what's left? The Cinderella story, which I think is familiar by now. No, you can safely skip this film, unless you really love FOUT, in which case there's still plenty to laugh at. However, any quality is completely absent.

0.5*

I'm not really a fan of musicals, but this is a suitable film for Christmas. The songs are quite nice and the cast certainly does their best. However, why the cardboard sets were chosen is a mystery to me. It makes the film look very cheap, and perhaps the budget played a role.

The humor in it (one sister with a creaking knee and the other who blinks her eyes exaggeratedly) is quite amusing, the story is told in a light-hearted way and the drama level is considerably toned down.

I give the film just enough of a passing grade.
