The dull coastal town of Zandwijk aan Zee is turned upside down by the arrival of the sword-fighting and rum-drinking pirate family Donderbus. While the drowsy local residents don't like the guard shark and the house octopus, eleven-year-old Michiel, despite their differences, befriends the tough pirate boy Billy. But he threatens to lose his new friend when arch-enemy Bony Krelis suddenly shows up. Together with their neighbor Elizabeth, the boys go into battle against the most dangerous pirate at sea…
