Michael Gordon is a beach bum who paints in a coastal town near San Francisco. A lonely vacationer, Alexis Smith, who buys a painting from him, leaves an indelible impression on him. When she suddenly leaves, Michael also leaves and opens a studio in New York. But in the meantime, he continues to search for Alexis.
