"A moving and poignant story set against the corrupt politics of the Stalinist era."
Russia, 1936: Hero of the Russian revolution Colonel Kotov spends an idyllic summer at his dacha with his young wife, his 6-year-old daughter Nadya, other relatives and friends. The summer calm changes dramatically with the unannounced visit of cousin Mitya from Moscow, a real charmer who impresses the women. He also takes over little Nadya with his games and piano playing. But Kotov won't be fooled: it's the time of Stalin's repression with ominous phone calls in the middle of the night and he knows Mitya didn't come for the fun.
