Based on a story of a man who is very concerned about his younger sister, provided that his own ego is not touched, a very cynical picture is presented here of the power that can emanate from journalism.

The film draws its strength from the brilliant portrayals of Burt Lancaster as the self-righteous, lusty power person, unscrupulous and totally disrespectful and, in my view, especially of Toni Curtis as the lefty, flattering, unreliable and equally respectless "runner".

A remarkable element in the film is also that in the scheming and cheating one can count on the police as an employee. Equally cynical.

Cynical and dark film that doesn't feel outdated at all. A big plus are the strong roles of Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis in particular.

Furthermore, the dialogues are very strong and they are delivered with such conviction that they remain captivating throughout the film. The atmospheric images, music and especially the frequent smoking also enhance the atmosphere. The only downside is that the plot is a bit too far fetched at times, but I take that for granted.

In my opinion this remains a classic.

Very good.

The 2 trump cards of this film is of course Lancaster with his strong role as an unscrupulous columnist , but Curtis also plays very strong as a cringing snake who wants to do everything to get higher .

The rest of the cast does its best but only serves as filler to see the relationship between Falco and Hunsacker derail.

Furthermore , the dialogues are also strong , full of metaphors , I enjoyed it .
