Judgment at Nuremberg plot

"We have to forgive if we are to go on living."

Nuremberg, Germany 1947. Judge Dan Haywood (Spencer Tracey) arrives in a nearly bombed-out city to preside over a tribunal to convict the Germans who played a leading role during the Nazi regime. In an earlier trial, all party leaders and military governors had already been convicted. The battle is being fought against 4 judges who had important functions at the time. But the German lawyer, who is going to defend his colleagues, is trying to get the most out of it.

Beautiful film in which a tribunal examines the responsibility of a number of German judges during the Nazi regime. A court drama that is directed here with great dignity by Stanley Kramer. Some moving and poignant scenes. Due to the long dialogues and monologues (which are, incidentally, strongly written), the actors each get their chance and the acting is excellent.

Judgment at Nuremberg

Fantastic film about the 'Nuremberg trials'. Director Stanley Kramer takes the time to introduce the characters, and the trial is also shown in detail and in its entirety. The lawsuit shows that not everything was so black and white on the German side and that there were many people who were not aware of all the horrors, or were forced to fight for the German Reich.

The character that Burt Lancaster plays is a clear example of this. The four judges clearly do not belong to the group of people who were forced to follow Hitler, but such a character as Dr. Ernst Janning shows in a beautiful way how as a just judge you can be completely dragged into the decisions of Hitler. Spencer Tracy, Widmark, Dietrich, Garland and Schell are truly peerless, and the speeches are impressive. Compliments for the razor-sharp script, which highlights the different points of view well and shows that the rise of Hitler has several culprits/responsibles. Also on the good side.
