"They ran away from everything but each other."

After her umpteenth failed relationship, Mary Jo Walker is on her way to paradise Starlight Beach with her 12-year-old daughter Ava. There, a short time later, she meets one of her former flames and threatens to relapse into her old mistakes if she moves in with him. All against the wishes of Ava, who is finally beginning to feel at home somewhere. When Mary Jo threatens to resign, Ava becomes desperate and disappears without a trace. Mary Jo realizes that she must change her life if she is not to lose her daughter.
