The Outsider plot
"His most electrifying role!"
Ira Hayes is a Native American who became known as one of the soldiers who hoisted the American flag on Iwo Jima. Coming from a reservation in Arizona, he received his military training in the Marines. He befriends Sorenson who manages to keep him afloat in the white world. After Iwo Jima, Hayes becomes disillusioned with the exaggerated heroism associated with his action and it becomes very difficult to adjust to civilian life.
