The Chinese Ring plot
Princess Mei Ling visits the Chan residence, where she comes into contact with jack of all trades Birmingham Brown. She refuses to reveal her identity, but she hands Birmingham her ring to hand over to Charlie. After a while, Chan is called back, but before her return journey has even started, she is hit by a poison arrow that was fired by a mysterious figure. Before dying from the fast-acting poison, she remembers to write the name "Captain K" on a small piece of paper. When the police arrive, Charlie has to confess that he knows nothing about the identity of his murdered visitor. But he will soon change that.
