Jack Lemmon was seriously one of the best actors of his time and even today not many actors can match him.

The Prisoner of Second Avenue is a delightfully light-hearted and, above all, very human drama/comedy film, and Jack Lemmon is convincing in his role from the very first minutes.

He has a really nice and realistic chemistry with Anne Bancroft and these two wonderful actors easily lift this film above the average.

This film has convinced me to watch more of Lemmon's films soon; I haven't enjoyed a film this much in a long time.

A very solid 4 stars with a chance of improvement.

A good film about a man who has a breakdown after losing his job. Most of the film takes place in an apartment (it's based on a play). The dialogue is witty and funny. Jack Lemmon and Anne Bancroft not only give excellent performances but also work well together. Easily 3.5 stars.

Haha Stallone was already training for his rocky role a year later, great scene.

How can you turn a boring story about a couple living on the 14th floor of a New York apartment building into a fun comedy? This film proves that it can, but you need two great actors in the form of Jack Lemon and Anne Bancroft, their acting is so authentic and believable that it's almost scary, and they also have great chemistry with each other.

At first you get a little tired of Lemmon's whining but after a short while he seems to get into his element and things get better and better, especially when his wife starts to go a bit crazy as well.
