"They found a love they dared not touch!"
When newly arrived Megan Davis (Barbara Stanwyck) finds herself caught up in a Chinese uprising, she is luckily rescued by a gallant bandit, General Yen (Nils Asther), who takes her to his palace. After a while, Megan discovers that the general has no intention of releasing her. Then she devises a plan to undermine General Yen's power. Megan must save her friend Mah-Ling with her own freedom because she betrayed the general. Meanwhile, Megan finds that she is no longer resisting her captivity and that General Yen is becoming particularly attractive to her.
