Rikugun plot

Tomohiko is an army captain who has never seen much action. He is often ill and as a result gets other work in the army. He himself is very frustrated by his 'cowardice' and inability to fight for his country. In peacetime he runs a shop with his wife and they have two children. The eldest, Shintarom, is also sickly like his father, while the other is healthy and strong. Still, Tomohiko and his wife do everything they can to get Shintaro into the army and see battle.
