Normal plot
Catherine (Carrie-Anne Moss), Dale (Andrew Airlie) and their twelve-year-old son, Brady (Cameron Bright), form a family on the brink of collapse. In the two years since the death of her oldest son and star athlete Nicky, Catherine finds it increasingly difficult to live with her miscommunicating husband and a son who is a constant reminder of what once was. Walt (Callum Keith Rennie), a professor struggles with aging and learns to cope with it. His inability to communicate with his wife, the care he has to give to his brother because of his fear of space, and his failure as a writer drive him into the arms of Sherri (Lauren Lee Smith), a young TV reporter and college student. After losing his wife and putting his career on the line, Walt begins to realize that his future depends on coming to terms with the victims of a traffic accident he caused. After a time in juvenile detention for car theft, Jordy returns home to his domineering father Carl (Michael Riley) and new stepmother Elise (Camille Sullivan). His strained relationship with his father reaches a critical point when he and Elise start a smear campaign against each other. As these stories unfold, we discover that the main characters are all part of a story - connected by blood, coincidence and the desire to reconcile with what happened in the past.
