Laurent Monier, professor of history and geography in Annecy, is divorced and longs to get closer to his children. He gets a mutation to the region of Paris. He is assigned the most difficult class at his new school and finds no apartment to stay in other than one consisting of only two rooms. These are not easy times for him.
